What is Remote Pilot?

Remote Pilot lets you control the quiz from your phone while the computer screen shows only the presentation view. Ideal when:
  • You’re hosting the quiz standing in front of a group
  • Computer is connected to a projector
  • You want to move around freely

How to set up?

Create session

Start the quiz and go to lobby.

Click the pilot icon

In the lobby, find the pilot icon (📱) and click it.

Scan QR code

A QR code will appear - scan it with your phone’s camera.

Open the link

Your phone will open the Remote Pilot page.

Done!

Your phone is now the quiz remote control.

Information on pilot

You see in real-time:
  • Current question number
  • How many have answered
  • Time remaining
  • Timer status

Security

​
One-time token

The pilot link contains a one-time token valid for 5 minutes. After that, you need to generate a new QR code.

Single device

  • Only one device can be the pilot
  • Connecting from a new device disconnects the previous one
  • Computer still shows the presentation view

Workflow

Typical scenario

  1. Preparation:
    • Connect computer to projector
    • Open quiz in browser
    • Create session
  2. Connect pilot:
    • Scan QR with phone
    • Verify the pilot works
  3. Hosting:
    • Participants join (they see the projector screen)
    • Start quiz from phone
    • Control the entire quiz from your hand

Presentation view

The computer screen (projector) shows:
  • Clean question view for participants
  • No control elements
  • Large, readable answers
  • Timer visible to everyone

Troubleshooting

  • Click the pilot icon again
  • A new QR code will be generated
  • Scan it again
  • Check phone’s Wi-Fi connection
  • Refresh the pilot page
  • If needed - scan QR again
  • Make sure phone has internet
  • Wait a moment (network delay)
  • Refresh the pilot page
  • Enlarge the code on screen
  • Check lighting
  • Use a dedicated QR scanning app

Technical requirements

Phone

  • Any smartphone with a browser
  • Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • Camera for scanning QR (or app)

Computer

  • Browser with quiz open
  • Stable internet connection
  • Optionally: connected to projector
Important: Phone and computer both need internet connection. They don’t work on local network only.

Tips

Test the connection before the quiz - make sure the pilot works before participants join.
Keep your phone charged - a long session can drain the battery.
Disable notifications - mute your phone to avoid distracting sounds.

Alternatives

If Remote Pilot doesn’t work:
  • Control directly from computer
  • Use a wireless mouse/presenter
  • Ask someone to click on the computer
